Christmas Time to say I Do

Christmas can without doubt be regarded one of the most romantic times of the year. The fairytale ideal of sparkling decorations, open fires, and a winter wonderland of snow covered landscapes complemented by carol singers in the street is the perfect mix for romance to blossom.

Although this festive combination does not always materialise in Ireland, the Christmas period is one of the most popular times of the year for couples to get engaged. With family and friends gathered around for this special time of year, a Christmas engagement is the ideal time to celebrate with the people you love.

What Christmas present could be more memorable on Christmas morning than that sparkling engagement ring? Or if your patience can no longer hold out a proposal in front of an open fire on Christmas Eve will be the perfect start to the festive season. Either way we think Christmas time in Ireland is the most romantic time of year to get engaged.

Be sure to let us know of your perfect Christmas engagement if you pop the question this season.

Wishing you a Very Merry (& Romantic) Christmas.

The Stillorgan Park Hotel Team.

Stillorgan Park Goes Electric

We are delighted to announce that ESB ecars & the Stillorgan Park Hotel have joined forces to install multiple ecar charge points at the Hotel which is a unique first for a Dublin hotel. The hotel is one of the first in Ireland to have a charge point on site. However there is not just one, but three charge points, conveniently located at the hotel.

Daragh O’Neill, General Manager of the Stillorgan Park Hotel said, "As part of our overall Green Strategy and our continuing efforts to become an environmentally friendly hotel, we are delighted to announce that in partnership with ESB ecars we have installed three ecar charge points at the hotel for our guests and employees.”

The roll out of charge points is part of ESB ecars plan to build the charging infrastructure nationwide to meet the Government target of 10% of all vehicles to be electric by 2020. To date more than 560 charge points have been installed in public locations, service stations, commercial premises and in homes across Ireland.

Paul Mulvaney, Managing Director, ESB ecars said “We are delighted that organisations like Stillorgan Park Hotel are supportive of the nationwide ecar programme and proactively promoting sustainable transport. Charge point availability in hotels fits in with our overall objective to position charge points in locations where motorists can conveniently charge their car during their stay.”

Stillorgan Park Hotel is also the Official Accommodation Provider to the Irish Hockey Association which is hosting the Electric Ireland sponsored Olympic Qualifiers which took place in the National Hockey Stadium, UCD.

Irish Men's Hockey - FIH Road To London

The countdown to the London Olympics is on with only 150 days to go until the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium. However the Irish Men’s Hockey team are currently aiming to book their ticket to the Games as they begin the Men’s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Dublin, Ireland. The Electric Ireland FIH Road To London will feature six teams and will be held from March 10-18. Korea will be the team to beat, entering the tournament as the sixth-ranked team in the FIH World Ranking. Challenging the Koreans will be Malaysia, Ireland, Russia, Chile and Ukraine.

The schedule for the tournament can be viewed here: http://www.fih.ch/en/competitions-152-2012-men-s-oq-irl-olympic-qualification-tournament:format

Four years ago the Irish Green Machine narrowly missed out on a shot at a one off play-off match to go the Olympics in Beijing and we are hoping they go one step further this year and qualify for the Summer Olympics in London. There is only one place up for grabs in this winner takes all event so it is by no means an easy job. So lets hope we can qualify and make sure we have plenty to shout about this summer

Sponsored by Electric Ireland and hosted by the Irish Hockey Association the tournament takes place at the National Hockey Stadium, UCD from 10th – 18th March. For Tickets visit http://www.hockey.ie/
